Associate Consultant | Natural Resources, Climate, and Sustainability

SES, Inc. is seeking an individual, full-time, for this position in its Lenexa, Kansas headquarters. This candidate will support and work directly with our sustainability and climate consulting professionals on greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting and verification, inspections, audits, planning, regulatory reviews, and various research projects. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, organized, and eager to learn from subject matter experts in the sustainability, climate consulting, and verification portion of our business.  Education or experience in analytical areas such as environmental and sustainability sciences preferred.

Duties:

  • Participate in Sustainability, Compliance, and Permitting Audits and/or Assessments and Investigations with clients
  • Evaluate facilities for compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Record, evaluate and interpret data, and work plans, and provide analysis and interpretations of findings
  • Verification of sustainability claims against client needs and/or industry and/or voluntary standards
  • Review and develop strategies for reporting on measurable metrics as it applies to organizational needs and industry standards
  • Conduct, organize, and track data reviews in an efficient manner for projects including:
    • GHG Reporting and Verification
    • Audits
    • Planning
    • Regulatory Reviews

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience required. We welcome more experience, specific to Verifier Accreditation
  • S./M.S. degree in Biological Sciences, Natural Resources, Sustainability, Climate Science, or Environmental Sciences
  • Experience as an environmental accredited verifier is a plus
  • An understanding of environmental principles and carbon accounting concepts
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software, specifically data analysis in Excel
  • Collaborative mindset and positive-active participation, “can-do attitude”
  • Aptness to manage time independently with a commitment to quality and integrity.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, work with hands, stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds

Associate Consultant | Agriculture Homeland Security

SES, Inc. is seeking an individual, full-time, for this position in its Lenexa, Kansas headquarters. This candidate will support and work directly with our homeland security group. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, organized, and eager to learn from subject matter experts in the agriculture production, homeland security, and foreign animal disease areas of our business. Education or experience in agriculture or homeland security areas such as livestock production, the National Incident Management System, and/or the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program preferred.

Duties:

  • Support preparedness and mitigation activities associated with foreign animal disease response with clients
  • Review and update foreign animal disease mitigation and response plans
  • Support exercise development, conduct, and reporting for validating mitigation and response plans
  • Work with livestock producers to develop enhanced biosecurity plans
  • Work with state, federal, and industry response partners to support policy and procedure development for mitigation and response to foreign animal disease

Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years’ experience required. We welcome more experience, specific to foreign animal disease mitigation and response
  • B.S./M.S. degree in Animal Science, Biological Sciences, Homeland Security, or Emergency Management
  • Experience with livestock production agriculture a plus and supplements experience requirements
  • An understanding of the National Incident Management System and/or the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program a plus
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software
