SERVICES
Nutrient Management: SES provides many services to the agricultural community, including nutrient management. SES currently provides support to livestock producers through a program called the Comprehensive Livestock Environmental Assessment and Nutrient Management Program (CLEANmp-West). CLEANmp-West provides grant funded environmental assessments and nutrient management plans to livestock producers west of the Mississippi River.
Odor Control and Monitoring: SES has provided scientific support regarding odor issues associated with livestock production and municipal waste disposal. This support includes evaluation of the numerous odor control and monitoring technologies available on the market, and odor sampling. SES developed the Chapter for Odor in the USDA’s National Engineering Handbook.
Carbon Offsets: SES is a leader in the emerging agricultural carbon offset market. SES is an approved verifier of carbon offset projects under the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX). To date we have verified millions of acres of cropland, pasture and rangeland for carbon sequestration. In addition, SES has verified more than 50 biogas and renewable projects in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. SES also has defined carbon footprints for agricultural organizations.
Agroterrorism: As a recognized leader in the area of agri-security, SES has developed agricultural emergency response plans for more than 15 states and organizations. SES has provided local planning and training on the issue of livestock disease response throughout four states; directly reaching more than 10,000 producers and response officials. SES conducted the first cross-border functional exercise between the United States and Mexico combining a livestock and plant disease scenario. SES also is currently developing the nation’s first animal stop movement full-scale exercise between multiple states.
