GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM
APPLICATIONS
Geographic Information System (GIS)
programs provide the tools for managing multiple data sources from broad
geographic areas for easy and rapid analyses. GIS enables you to access and overlay
spatial information, including maps, aerial photos and survey coordinates,
to examine relationships within those sources and data related to specific
locations that may reside in databases (such as facility-specific information
including addresses, permit information, production numbers or other
attributes). SES provides the tools and
expertise to assist you with developing GIS applications for your
operations and environmental management needs.
GIS is
increasingly being used for a wide range of applications, including
environmental management. For
instance, if the user needs to know the proximity of their facility to
residential areas, markets, water resources or sensitive areas, a GIS can
show these data relationships individually or collectively. You will benefit by seeing how your
operations relate to environmental resources and where possible liabilities
or opportunities may exist. GIS is
particularly useful when evaluating multiple facilities, transportation routes,
linear facilities, or broad geographic areas.
There may be specific information
that you need about an individual facility or mapped feature. GIS also can
access database information about the feature and directly and immediately
provide output to your screen for review.
The benefit of using GIS is its
ability to access and examine your company’s operational and environmental
data in relation to spatial or mapped attributes. The management of your facilities and
related environmental data will become easier, more efficient and
powerful.
We would like to demonstrate how GIS
can become an effective management tool for your
organization. Call Frank Bryant at 1-800-897-1136
to discuss how GIS can work for your organization.
