SES Entry-Level Job Description
Agricultural Security and Training Specialist
0 – 3 years related professional experience, with an
undergraduate or graduate degree (agronomy or animal sciences degree
preferred), a degree in homeland security or experience in emergency
response is a plus.
Duties and responsibilities for the SES
entry-level staff classification (technical staff) include:
Primary task will include:
- Creation, review
and evaluation of agricultural emergency response and bio-security
plans, including animal production, crop production, and food security;
- Assisting
with the planning and implementation of seminars, tabletop and full
scale exercises;
- Providing
research and other technical support relative to emergency response
and homeland security projects;
- Conducting
training sessions on local agriculture emergency response and
planning, and;
- Assisting
with environmental related field projects, including carbon
verification, nutrient management planning, environmental sampling,
etc.
Skills appropriate to the possible tasks include agricultural
sciences (specifically animal production, animal science and/or agronomy), emergency
response or planning, environmental sciences, training, computer skills,
technical writing and public speaking.
Travel is necessary, up to 50% travel required. The positions are available for an approximate
start date in February or early March 2008.
