Following the completion of remedial
actions for a former waste lagoon at a swine production facility in
Kansas, SES also designed and implemented stream bank stabilization measures
to eliminate the erosion of a cutting stream into the former lagoon. The plan involved stabilizing the
cutbank of the stream by regarding the slope and emplacement of rock
armoring and vegetation.The
process also included cleanup of debris littering the site, providing a
stable and aesthetically pleasing stream.
Erosion
Control and Sedimentation Assessment
Confidential
February-March 2001
SES provided expert technical support for defense of our client in
litigation of damages resulting from excess sedimentation of a community
lake from nearby construction sites.SES conducted a site assessment of the lake and drainage leading to
it.We then quantified the
potential amount of sediment that could have possibly emanated from our
client’s site using erosion models and climatic data, as well as
obtaining information about erosion control measures used during
construction of buildings at the site. Our data demonstrated that erosion from the site contributed
insignificant amounts of sediment to the lake and our client should not
be held responsible for damages.
