Geographic
Information Systems (SIN 899-7)
SES has provided key
GIS development for clients in agriculture, and has used the technology to develop
risk management evaluation systems for property underwriters. GIS is integral in our currently
developing program for assessing contaminant threats to agricultural
operations, including detailed biosecurity assessment. In addition to our own capabilities, we
routinely subcontract another firm, the Peridian Group, for implementing
GIS for environmental analysis studies.
One of the many expanding uses of GIS is in agricultural
management of livestock wastes. SES is one of the
first companies to use GIS for the development and implementation of
Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMPs) that will be required for
large livestock operations. In
addition to successfully developing a GIS program for one of the country’s
largest livestock producers for the management of land application of
wastes, SES staff has provided assistance for
the development of advanced GIS applications for agricultural waste
management and land application, including training and demonstration of
the technology.
Projects in which SES and the Peridian
Group have successfully implemented GIS include:
- GIS
Programming for Nutrient Management Planning
- GIS
Program Analysis for the National Pork Producers Council
- Storm
Sewer GIS Mapping for the City of Leawood, Kansas
- GIS Program
Development for the City of Mission Hills, Kansas
- Johnson
County Rain and Stream Network in Kansas
